JUNETEENTH2017

For more than a century and a half the country has celebrated June 19th—“Juneteenth”—as a symbol of freedom achieved and a fuller freedom yet to come. On Monday, June 19, at 7:00 PM, at The Riverside Church in New York City, community leaders will gather to commemorate Juneteenth with an exciting program on their Third Annual Juneteenth Celebration.

Music from the African-American sacred tradition will be played throughout the event, including performances by jazz luminaries Cyrus Chestnut and Wycliffe Gordon; acclaimed soprano Brandie Sutton; pianist, arranger, composer and musical director, Joseph Joubert; and the Juneteenth Jubilee Singers.

The event is being hosted in collaboration with the Union Theological Seminary, Auburn Theological Seminary, New York Theological Seminary, Drum Major Institute, Healing of the Nations Foundation, and The Ebony Ecumenical Ensemble, Inc.
